Take Your Best Shot – Nature, Undisturbed Deadline January 31, 2011

You still have time to capture your best photographs and enter them in the Southern Crescent’s premier photography exhibition. The 3rd annual juried exhibition Nature, Undisturbed™ continues to solicit entries for the 2011 competition through January 31.

Nature, Undisturbed™ is a celebration of the natural world. The exhibition will showcase the majestic beauty of nature, wildlife, and our local landscapes. The show brings the outside in for all to enjoy, highlighting the importance of greenspace and natural habitat protection for future generations of people and wildlife. This is your chance to capture moments on the not-so-beaten path and inspire others to do the same!

Take advantage of picture perfect natures areas in our community: Sams Lake Sanctuary south of Fayetteville, Line Creek Nature Area on Hwy 54 in Peachtree City, and Flat Creek Nature Area next to the Peachtree City Amphitheater. Photo opportunities abound at each for the Nature, Undisturbed™ ‘site specific’ category. Southern Conservation Trust manages all three public preserves and a portion of the exhibition proceeds benefit the Trust’s land conservation efforts. Visit www.sctlandtrust.org for driving directions.

Finalists’ works will be on display throughout the exhibition and events, April 16 – April 30, 2011, at Dogwood Gallery and Framer in Tyrone.

Nature Undisturbed 2011 Call for Entries - Deadline Jan 31st

Nature Undisturbed is becoming the springtime art event in the Southern Crescent. There is nothing like it in Atlanta. The call for entries is going on now. Nature Undisturbed is a juried photography show and sale celebrating the natural world. The previous years’ shows have been well received by the photography community and those who love good art. Last year the number of entries grew and sales were up. Nature Undisturbed is more than a photo show and sale; it is also a benefit for local conservation groups. There are two categories to enter. The first category is a nature photograph taken at any location, worldwide. The second category is a nature photograph taken on location at a property maintained by Southern Conservation Trust or of the Flint River.

Nature Undisturbed is a great opportunity for local photographers to become a part of a high end juried event. Last year entries arrived from 11 states. Donna Rosser, the show director, has received emails from photographers in Australia and the UK. Nature photography is something we can all relate to. Who hasn’t taken a sunset, beach, fall foliage or countless other nature photographs? This show is inspiration to the hobbyist and beginner photographer. The first place photos in each category last year were taken by Fayette County photographers.

Besides being an event for photographers – it is an event for the nature lover. The photography featured is diverse – not your typical calendar photo. The conservationist can feel good about the show since it helps raise awareness and funds for conservation groups. And lastly, this is an excellent opportunity for the art lover to add to a photography collection or begin one. During the show we will present a panel discussion on collecting photography moderated by juror, Susan Todd-Raque. If you have considered building a great photography collection, this is the time to come out and meet the photographers.

For more information on this year’s juror, the complete entry process, and a schedule of all show events; visit the website at www.natureundisturbed.com. The deadline to enter is January 31, 2011. Everyone is invited to the opening reception at Dogwood Gallery and Framer in Tyrone on April 16th from 6:00 to 9:00.
