Rosser's Photos in Four Photography Exhibits This Fall

Under the Tree, Fredericksburg National Cemetery
Donna Rosser, local Fayette County, Georgia photographer, is busy this fall. Rosser has eleven different photographs in four photography exhibits in the next two months. These photographs range in subject matter from landscape to cemetery to architectural to still life and a snake. The focus of each show is a little different.

In Blue Ridge, Georgia the arts association is having their first nature photography show. Rosser, who directs the local nature show, Nature Undisturbed, has three photos in this exhibit. The show is in Blue Ridge at The Art Center at 420 West Main Street in the Richard Low Evans Courtroom Gallery. The show is on display through October 8.

At the Whiskey Bonding Bard in Molena, Georgia is a satellite show during the annual event of SlowExposures. John A. Bennette, a photography collector from New York, curates a show entitled “Southern Memories: Part One.”  Mr. Bennette selected photographs from nineteen photographers to be a part of this exhibit.  Rosser has three photos in this show.  Her favorite in this show is “The Entrance” (from the inside) of the R F Strickland Building in Concord prior to renovations.  This show opens September 17 and closes September 26.

The Le Cirque Hotel in New Orleans is hosting Cemeteryscape Photography Exhibit.  This is the 19th annual event to raise awareness and appreciation of the historic and artistic value of cemeteries.  Rosser has two photos in this exhibit on display the month of October.  Both of the photos in the exhibit were taken in her hometown at the Fredericksburg National Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This is the site of one of the bloodiest battles in the Civil War.

Also in October Rosser and her son will both have three pieces each in the Arts Clayton Photography Competition.  This show is on display the month of October.  Her favorite piece in this show is of a garter snake just coming inside her garage.  Many of the photos in these shows are from her 365 Project – a photo a day for a year.  Rosser feels this is a great exercise and really makes you see photos all around you that may have been missed before.

In addition to the shows, Rosser has three photos featured in a book that will be published and available in October.  Dog Sayings: wit and wisdom from man’s best friend is a collection of dog art and text celebrating dogs in all of their glory.  In February 2010, both professional and nonprofessional artists were invited to submit their work to be a part of this dog book The end result includes over 50 artists from countries including the US, UK, Canada, Scotland, Australia, Germany, Russia and Switzerland. DOG SAYINGS features a variety of dog art styles including dog photography, illustrations, and paintings.

Donna Rosser directs Nature, Undisturbed in collaboration with Dogwood Gallery and Framer in Tyrone. Nature Undisturbed is a juried photography exhibit and sale. Donna writes a popular blog about her photography; http://thebarefootphotographer.blogspot.com and teaches photography at the Serenbe Photography Center.
